OFFERING BOTH PRIVATE AND GROUP CLASSES
  • YOGA:  Yoga originated about 5,000 years ago in India. Yoga means union; the union of body and soul is yoga. It is considered a complete science of life encompassing the body, mind and spirit of the individual.   Yoga is often thought of in terms of the physical postures.  The subtler aspects of yoga include breath and meditation.  One of the goals of Yoga is the balancing of all aspects of the individual, creating optimal health and consciousness. • PILATES:  The aim of Pilates is optimal musculoskeletal performance - strength, flexibility and endurance – without risking injury or building bulk. With a focus on core stability, including pelvic and shoulder girdle stabilization, neutral alignment and patterned breathing, Stott Pilates also helps restore the natural curves of the spine, relieve tension and enhance self-confidence. • MOVING MEDITATION TECHNIQUES:  Osho Active MeditationsTM include moving the body in a non-systemized way….shaking, jumping, bouncing, and dancing to release layers of tension, moving into relaxation and stillness, and eventually accessing our inner powerhouse of consciousness. • DANCE:  Techniques such as ballet and modern dance are sometimes used to activate particular muscle groups, improve coordination, increase circulation or release tension.

  • VISUALIZATION:  Visualization uses your imagination to create what you want.  This practice sounds simple, yet when approached whole-heartedly, can produce profound results.  Recent studies with Olympic athletes have proved that visualization techniques along with physical practice, helped the athletes achieve their goals.

  • PRANAYAMA:  Life Energy is called prana (prah-nah).   In Sanskrit, the word for breath is the same as the word for life - prana.   The first thing you do as you enter this world is to inhale.  Your last act in this life is to exhale.  When prana leaves the body, we die.  The breath is a metaphor for life energy.  In yoga, and in Ayurveda (the ancient system and philosophy of health care from India), we seek to sustain and enhance the life force absorbing as much prana through breath, food, visual surroundings and sound. The most significant way of doing this is through the practice of pranayama (prah-nah-yah-mah), breathing techniques or breath control.  Yama (yah-mah) is translated as control, discipline, regulation or mastery.  Hence, some translate pranayama as "breath control."  Ayama (ah-yah-mah) is expansion, growth, extension, augmentation or magnification.  Hence, another translation is "expansion of the life force."  Both are loosely translated as "breath control," but realize that there is much more behind this definition.  Breathing is one of the few autonomic functions of the body that we may also control (although more experienced yogis and yoginis may control heart rate, blood pressure, skin temperature, and other functions previously believed to be autonomic).  The breath is seen as an important link between our body, our mind, and our spirit - moving from the purely physical realm, to the mental, to the spiritual.  Source: www.focalpointyoga.com.

  • MEDITATION: Meditation is often considered a way of quieting of the mind, emotions and body, yet it transcends all.  It can be a planned activity or it can just “arrive” spontaneously.  It can also be described as connecting and communing with the Source/Reality/Cosmic Consciousness/God.   Some techniques include: paying attention to the breath, paying attention to the sensations in the body (vipassana meditation), listening, and mantra (repeating a syllable/word).  Ultimately realizing the unity that we are.
